I was lucky enough to meet and photograph Adam Yauch a couple of years ago for Huck magazine.

When we met he was jet lagged and tired but apologetic for his lack of energy.

At the time I felt his tiredness actually added to the portrait as there was not the usual showmanship you’d usually see in a Beastie Boys shot and the portrait felt more honest for that.

I’m honoured that after his sad passing the remaining Beastie Boys used this image for his tribute on their website and, as you can see below, during the Knicks game in Madison Square Garden.

Yesterday I visited The Baron’s Speed Shop to photograph ‘The Baron’ for part of my ongoing custom bike culture project.

This is the start of a Triumph dragster build he’s working on. So far so good!
